Canada, our friendly neighbor to the north just recently passed a nationwide ban on “conversion therapy.” Similar ordinances have been passed in 24 states, including Columbia, South Carolina.
The purpose of this legislative push is very easy to identify. In towns, cities and states across our country, councilmembers, legislators, and governors are moving to silence pastors, therapists and doctors from providing a biblical worldview. As councilmember Shannon Kang in West Lafayette, Indiana recently stated, “Ordinances and resolutions like this are intended to change the culture…”
Senator Josh Kimbrell (Spartanburg) has responded to this growing move by crafting and sponsoring S.811, more commonly known as the Medical Rights of Conscience bill. This legislation would protect healthcare workers and Christian counselors from having to choose between their paycheck and their deeply held religious or moral beliefs. This bill is currently in the Medical Affairs Subcommittee.

Please call the members of the Senate Medical Affairs Committee and tell them that you believe healthcare workers should not have to choose between their faith and a paycheck. Let them know that, while we love all people, we are willing to stand firm on the Word of God as our strong foundation, and that pastors, nurses, doctors, and counselors should be able to practice their faith without reservation.
